Foam Extinguishing Systems

Large fire loads, found for example in industrial tank farms and refineries, require specialised solutions.

In foam extinguishing systems, a foaming agent is added to the extinguishing water and the volume is increased several times over in a foam pipe. During the extinguishing process, the foam is distributed over the fire load surface via evenly arranged extinguishing nozzles or extinguishing monitors. The fire is reliably extinguished by cooling, separation and displacement processes depending on the type of foam that is produced.

Powder Extinguishing Systems

The advantages of powder extinguishing systems include the rapid spread of the extinguishing agent in the area and the outstanding extinguishing action. While water and foam fall directly to the floor and an effective concentration can be difficult to maintain with gas extinguishing systems, the extinguishing powder spreads through the entire protection zone at lightning speed.

Powder extinguishing systems also constitute the preferred protection system type for extinguishing metal fires in fire class D. Water and CO2 are not suitable as extinguishing agents at the high temperatures that develop here, since their use may lead to violent consecutive reactions.
